I have appended the list of birds from my 5 days in Puglia. It is an exciting area. The surprises for me (in retrospect) were Cormorant (I won't exclude the possibility that it might have been a shag - it flew east along the coast at a great distance) and Fieldfare.

The nice things for me were Rock Bunting which I have never seen before, Calandra Lark, which I have only seen once and then the more common southern species which we don't see often (if at all) in Denmark - Red Kite, Crested Lark, Black Redstart and Cetti's Warbler. I guess we were just too early for Lesser Kestrel, but the town of Matera was a real experience. And I really enjoyed the contrast in landscapes between the lmestone areas round Martina Franca and Pugliano with the steppe and canyons of Matera ( which was just the right place to visit with a car load of non-birders).
